Holiday tree lighting: Santa bummed a ride to Chadds Ford on a fire truck

The Chadds Ford Township Residents Association, in partnership with Chadds Ford Township, was back at it this past weekend with another wonderful event where neighbors got to meet up, celebrate the holiday season, and (my personal favorite) eat s’mores 🍫 at the annual holiday tree lighting! 🎄

The event drew a great turnout amid perfect winter weather. The kiddos met Santa, who bummed a ride to the event on the Concordville Fire & Protective Association fire truck. Apparently, his sleigh was in the shop getting a tune-up for the Big Night. #SantaProblems Not a bad backup plan, Santa. 🎅🏻

Is it just me, or does Santa look like he’s straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting?

In addition to the annual tree lighting, Unionville High School carolers offered up their best Christmas songs, and everyone enjoyed food and fun activities.

This was CFTRA’s final event of 2025, but they’ve got a full agenda for next year. If you’re feeling FOMO about missing out on this holiday happening because YOLO, I’ll be sure to let you know when the next ones are coming up on the community agenda. The annual tree lighting event will definitely be back next year!

If you attended the event, I’d love to know your favorite part. Please share it in the comments!

Are you a CFTRA member?

If not, what are you waiting for?! 😉

🫶🏻 The Chadds Ford Township Residents Association is a volunteer, non-profit, civic organization that strives to create a strong sense of community within our township, support residents and businesses, and help retain the area’s unique historical quality and rural character.

💰 CFTRA is a non-political, non-partisan organization funded through donations and memberships from residents and businesses in the community. Funds cover the costs of CFTRA’s many successful community events each year that help them achieve their mission and build a stronger community in our town! It’s a small investment that yields big dividends of connection and resilience in Chadds Ford.

Residents can sign up as individual members, or businesses can sign up through the business membership program (which includes some great promotional benefits). Check out their site to learn more and join today!
