Got a wall that needs some art? The Chadds Ford Art Show and Sale has lots of art for your wall! 🖼️ Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 14, from 10 am – 5 pm in the gym-turned-art-gallery at Chadds Ford Elementary. I’ll give you a minute to put it on your calendar. 😉
This year, the Art Show returns with a vengeance. They have a record number of artists (more than 70!). The event continues to be such a success that they’re opening two new spaces for Artisan Markets this year. These new spaces will showcase a wider variety of art, including sculpture, pottery, jewelry, and more. 🎉 Your walls don’t have to be the only space getting an aesthetic upgrade!
What does the Chadds Ford Art Show and Sale support financially?
Great question! The Chadds Ford Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) hosts the long-running Art Show. Can you believe the show started by Betsy Wyeth is in its 77th year?!
The Art Show serves dual financial purposes. For local artists, it’s a great venue to get their work out to the public, find new patrons, and earn a living.
The PTO uses its share of the proceeds to fund student projects and program investments. In recent years, art show funds have helped pay for a new playground, a greenhouse on school grounds incorporated into various curricula, grants to help teachers purchase new materials, and more. The Art Show is the PTO’s signature event of the year and sets the foundation for a solid budget for the following year.

Last year, I chatted with Jess Eldridge, a community rockstar who volunteers countless hours to the students and staff at Chadds Ford Elementary. She is the Co-President of the Parent-Teacher Organization and Chair of the Chadds Ford Art Show.
Jess invited Rachel Coleman and Bill Sweeney, two artists who have sold their work at the show, to join the conversation. We discuss why the show is so essential to the school and the broader Chadds Ford community, what types of programs it supports at the school, and how it helps keep our local art community vibrant.
