Burning bright orange at the Pumpkin Carve

+ 👣 new walking club dates + 🍂 fall clean up + 🍬 trunkers needed!! + 🧘🏻‍♀️ restoration dates + more

Quick Note: Do you have a plan to vote? The election is on November 4, 2025. All items on the ballot are state and local matters, but that doesn’t make them any less critical than presidential votes. They’re probably more important because our state and local elected leaders make decisions that affect many aspects of our day-to-day lives.

Here’s a comprehensive 2025 Election Center online resource to get you started. And don’t forget that Amy Coney Barrett would probably tell you to vote Yes for retention of our Supreme Court Justices in PA this year. 👩🏻‍⚖️ The smear campaigns trying to convince you otherwise are laced with lies and misleading claims.

🎃 Light the night orange 🎃

Brave the traffic and check out the incredible hand-carved pumpkins at the annual Great Pumpkin Carve. I can’t believe how incredible the artwork on these pumpkins is! The event starts today, but you can check out the pumpkins tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday too. Head to the website for all the details, including the artisans and food vendors, who will also be at the event.

👣 Chadds Ford Walking Club keeps on walkin’

After a six-week trial period, we added more days for the Chadds Ford Walking Club! We found that afternoons work best, especially as the days get cooler (and we’re definitely not afraid of a little chill in the air).

For now, we still only have weekday walks. I know this is tough for those with traditional 9-5 jobs. We’d love to have one or two ambassadors who want to lead walks on the weekends or in the evenings. If you’re interested, please reach out to me at [email protected].

Check out the updated page for our next walking dates. I’ve picked all the times and will add a few more locations as we lock in where we want to meet! Hope to see you there. 💛

🍂 Clean up, clean up, everybody, everywhere

Do you have time to do your share? (Bonus points for anyone who knows what song this headline comes from. 🦖)

The Chadds Ford Township Residents Association is hosting its semi-annual roadside cleanup event on November 1 at 8:00 am. Meet up at the township building. Details on the flyer below!

Halloween trunk-or-treats are still taking trunkers!

The trunk-or-treat, co-hosted by the Chadds Ford Township Residents Association and Chadds Ford Elementary PTO, could still use a few more trunks to give out all the treats. If you’re available to drive over and be a treat distributor to little ones in costume, sign up here. You don’t need a fancy trunk decorated to the nines to participate. The event takes place Saturday, Oct 25, from 4:30 – 6:30. If you have questions, contact the crew at [email protected]

🎨 Latest on the greatest at Painter’s Folly?

Check out this interesting article from Hidden City that takes a deeper look into the history of Painter’s Folly. It also examines the current status of the historic home’s future based on conversations with the Painter’s Folly Preservation Alliance and Chadds Ford township leaders.

🚧 What’s up at Ridge Rd and 202? (part 2)

Last week, I shared a little update about a neighbor advocacy group forming around the development at Ridge Rd and 202. They’re working together to ensure their voices are heard by leaders in both Chadds Ford and Concord townships on traffic and environmental concerns.

The group is gaining steam and has continued preparing presentations and specific requests for the townships to consider as the development moves forward.

Preventing development entirely seems unlikely. The group recognizes that the most likely outcome involves modifying development plans to better fit the community while reducing potential traffic headaches and environmental risks. Their presentation to Chadds Ford Township, available under “Important Documents” on their website, highlights their specific concerns and requests. Some notable concerns include:

  • environmental runoff from a car wash and gas station

  • 24/7 activity (noise, light, and air pollution) from the gas station

  • excess commercial space when quite a bit of vacant commercial space already exists in the area

  • addition of a grocery store when there are already at least nine within 4 miles of the location

  • another gas when there are already five within 3-5 miles, including one that is abandoned

To learn more about the advocacy work, check out their website.

The topic will be discussed at:

  • Concord Township Planning Commission Meeting: Mon, October 20 at 7 pm (43 S. Thornton Road, Glen Mills, PA) ** Citizens of both Concord and Chadds Ford Townships are strongly encouraged to attend **

  • Chadds Ford Township Board of Supervisors Workshop Meeting: Wed, October 22 at 6:30 pm (10 Ring Road, Chadds Ford, PA) ** Commercial Developer will be present at this meeting to address community questions and concerns **

Please attend if this project is one you are passionate about and would like to share your perspective.

  1. Thanks for the updates on the proposed development, Jen. What a mess this could be. Common sense just does not seem to have prevailed in this instance. Just greed. I appreciate being updated here because a moderator banned me from the Chadds Ford FB page for daring to post about a new local business (he would not put up my post). Then I had the temerity to ask him why 3 times (he refused to answer me). So I was banned. The new business is owned by people of another nationality/minority and I really want to think that is not the reason he wouldn’t publish my post. But many other businesses are mentioned there. Makes one wonder….. PS…if this is too controversial, feel free to remove it.
