Don’t get lost on a wild silly goose chase
+ farmers’ market all summer + morning yoga sesh + pie + puppies + more
Summer takes us all in different directions, so weekly updates may be a little lighter as we spend time traveling, lounging by the pool, indulging in summer reading, and doing all the things a slightly slower time of year allows.
Please let me know if you have any interesting news to share with the community. 🫶🏼
🍓🥬🍄 Concord Farmers’ Market a Success!
The Concord Farmer’s Market was a great success, and it’s coming back with a vengeance for the rest of the summer. Make a plan to make Sunday morning shopping part of your weekly grocery haul. Eating local, seasonal food is great for the community and your body. You’ll also find amazing local flowers, fun drinks, refreshing treats, and much more!

If you saw that Bezos just dropped $20 million in pocket change for his wedding, you know Whole Foods (owned by Bezos’ Amazon) doesn’t need any more of your money. Spare Bezos the spare change. Put your grocery budget toward supporting our neighborhood producers and growers who live with dirt under their fingernails to help our local economy flourish. See you at the market! 💐
Here’s your market checklist:
Bring your bags (not required, but brownie points are awarded to BYO baddies).
Bring a friend or neighbor. Shopping is always more fun with a friend.
Bring your kids and pets. Lots of space to run around, play on the playground, and meet new friends.
Bring your wallet 😉 (most vendors accept some combination of Venmo, credit card, tap-to-pay, and cash). Cash is always king if you can make it work. ⭐

Now’s the time to lock in free power from the sun ☀️
Remember how I told you about TerraSol Energies, the local solar installer in Chadds Ford? They are installing our solar panels today! I’m excited to have our little solar farm at our home, and TerraSol has been great. If you’re interested in rooftop solar to reduce your energy costs and achieve energy independence, you need to take action on that project ASAP.
Today, Congress passed that giant bill you’ve probably heard about. Remember when Trump said he supported an “all of the above” energy policy? Just kidding. 😘 Back in March, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin told us Washington was launching the biggest deregulation in history to “unleash American energy, lower costs for Americans.”
You didn’t think they meant to include solar energy, the free stuff from the sun, in that “all of the above” strategy, did you? You silly goose. 🪿 The Exxon-and-friends Protection Agency (EPA) is not in the business of supporting fossil fuel competitors.
I’m having trouble finding the “all of the above energy policy” or “lower energy prices” in any of the tactics used by our besties in Congress to unleash American energy. Maybe they’re trying to send us on a wild silly goose chase to find those empty promises. 🪿 But what do I know? I’m just a silly goose mom shuttling my kids between sports practices in my electric SUV that will soon be powered by the sun. ☀️
If you hope to utilize the currently available 30% tax credit for solar installation, you must have your panels operational by the end of 2025. It takes several months from the time you sign your contract to get your panels approved by the township and PECO. So if you prefer that your silly electricity goose chases lower energy bills and energy independence instead of fossil fuel profits funneled to billionaires, call TerraSol Energies ASAP to get started on your project. Best of luck! Tell ‘em I sent ya!
🧘🏼♀️ Sneak in a morning yoga sesh
For the summer, The Yoga Space added a 7 am session on Wednesday mornings so you can get your yoga fix before work – whether you work for “The Man,” yourself, or The Children (ya know… cooking, chaffeuring, refereeing, and defelecting every brand of “I’m bored” this time of year). Do this one thing for yourself first to set the tone for the day. It’s your self-care flex. 💪🏼

🎁 Christmas in July? Yep!
Fellow neighbor, Stacy Gallo, starts her Christmas shopping in July, but it’s not what you might think. Through the Technical College High School (TCHS) Pennock’s Bridge campus, Stacy helps organize a Holiday Hope Chest. She recently posted a request in our local Buy Nothing group, asking for any unopened toys, books, clothing, beauty products, and other gifts that might bring a smile to a child’s face, as long as they’re new. She’s starting her collection early to have plenty of gifts for the holiday shopping experience. She’s definitely on top of her game!
You can check out more about their success last year in this post. Instead of letting unopened toys collect dust in your home, consider reaching out to Stacy to pass them along to be gifted to a family who might not otherwise be able to provide gifts to their loved ones this holiday season. You can message her on Facebook or text her at 484-433-5015.
Are you growing your veggies?
🥦🥕🌶️ Do you have a vegetable, community, or youth garden you’d like to showcase? Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Delaware County invite you to the 34th Annual Garden Contest! It’s open to all Delaware County residents, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gardener. You need to sign up by July 28 to be considered for judging. My green thumb isn’t very green. But if you’re into digging and sowing, this might be the perfect contest for you!
Live Animals at the Library! 🐍🐰🦁
The Community Room at Rachel Kohl Community Library will feel more like a zoo than ever before at the Safari Party next Friday, July 11, from 1 – 2 pm. If your kids love animals, bring them to this free library program to see real animals up close and personal. Space is limited. Doors open at 12:30 to pick up tickets (admission is free, but tickets are required to manage capacity), so please arrive early.
🥧 Can you bake a pie with the best of ‘em?
Calling all pie bakers for the Concord Summer Pie Baking Contest. I’ve never attended, but the former executive director of the Rachel Kohl Community Library has been a judge for the past few years. She says the pies are always incredible and is excited to return as a judge again. Be sure to check it out, and sign up if you’re baking skills are ready to face the summer heat of hungry neighbors. Details in the flyer below!
If you’re more into eating pies than baking them, don’t despair. You’re invited too! After judging (which takes place at 1 pm), attendees can purchase slices of pie for $1 each. There will also be ice cream, iced tea, and coffee. Proceeds benefit the Rachel Kohl Community Library. So basically, everyone’s a winner!!
Note: If this is not your first Concord Pie Baking Contest rodeo, note the new location this year. 👇🏼

Are pet parades your thing?
Dress up your pet for a patriotic pet parade at the Concord Township Dog Park. You can bring dogs and cats. You can even bring horses?! If the pie contest doesn’t meet your fill for ice cream, they’ll have ice cream at the pet parade too. Concord must have a serious line item in its budget for ice cream. 😂 Definitely worth it!
