🚧 What’s up at Ridge Rd and 202?
After more than a decade of discussion around the development of the grassy parcel at Ridge Rd and 202, it’s back on the Concord township agenda. Although the land is adjacent to Chadds Ford township, it sits in Concord township. Weird township lines, I know? 🤷🏻♀️
A group of neighbors shares concerns about the traffic and environmental impacts such development could have on neighboring properties. They’re working together to ensure their voices are heard by leaders in both Chadds Ford and Concord townships. To learn more about the advocacy work, check out their website.
The topic is on the Chadds Ford township Board of Supervisors agenda for this evening, October 9, at 6:30 pm at the township building (10 Ring Rd). Please attend if this project is one about which you are passionate and would like to share your perspective.

🍷 Raise your glass to feed our neighbors 🥂
If you’re a fan of bourbon, wine, or helping our neighbors put food on their table, check out the Bourbon & Brix fundraiser supporting KACS (local food pantry) on October 25 at The Inn at Grace Winery. If you like all three of those things, then this event sounds like the perfect fit for you!
Tickets are $150/guest. There are six bourbons and six wines, each paired with delectable little plates to make the night even better (and maybe not drink too much on an empty stomach). 🤢 Call up a friend or two and grab tickets before they’re gone. They sold out last year!
If you have a business that might like to sponsor the event (or know a friend who does), get more details about how to sponsor and secure your tax-deductible marketing message out in the world of our Brandywine neighbors.
🐎 Equestrian roots racing to fill Chester County Food Bank shelves
Showcasing our community’s deep equestrian roots, the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup is back again this year to host a great event and raise money for the Chester County Food Bank. This timber steeplechase race is steeped in history as an event that brings together individuals, businesses, and equestrian enthusiasts to ensure that no one goes to bed on an empty stomach.
Want to know what’s even better? 🦅 They have tailgating on a Sunday, and it’s the Eagles by week. I’m pretty sure that’s a sign you should go! There’s an option to let Gia Bella prep your tailgating food for you. You can get a VIP Farm-to-Table lunch at The Ruins (on the Hunt Cup property). Or there are several other places to park and make your own party, just be sure to clean up after yourselves.
🎨 Low-tech makerspace magic 🧵
In a world of increasing uncertainty, tangible skills are as critical as technology skills. Additionally, it’s beneficial to take a break from screens occasionally. Unionville High School is looking to expand its low-tech makerspace, filling it with items such as craft tools and resources, LEGO bricks, Magna-Tiles, games, and more.

🪄 Halloween but for the witchy ladies? 🧙🏻♀️
This one calls for a serious girls’ night out, pointy witch hats welcome. Celebrate women in all their magic and magnificence at The Creamery the night before Halloween and support The Fund for Women and Girls, an organization based in West Chester that supports women and girls in Chester County.
You can learn more about their mission here. They support initiatives like Paid Family Leave and civic education. I think this campaign to advocate for 16- and 17-year-olds to be able to vote for local school board candidates is pretty interesting…
Looking ahead
Here are a few other events you might want to add to your calendar. Several require registration in advance. Double-check dates and times in case they’ve changed since I shared.
