Falling into pumpkin season

+ junk for the trunk + art for food + trash to treasure + more

Quick Note: We started a Chadds Ford Walking Club. We had a great turnout for the first two weekly walks. We hope you can join us. All the deets here! 👇🏻

🍬 Put some junk (food) in your trunk! 🍫

This one’s for the kids, friends. The Chadds Ford Township Residents Association is partnering up with the Chadds Ford Elementary PTO to host a Trunk or Treat event for the kiddos in our community on October 25 from 4:30 – 6:30. 🎃

📣 They need your help.

They’re looking for a bunch of neighbors to turn their vehicle trunks into caverns and cauldrons of Halloween goodness. You decide if it’s spooky or sweet.

Many of us live in neighborhoods or on streets that are too spread out to safely attract trick-or-treaters. This is a great way to experience the holiday energy, no matter where you live. Get in the Halloween spirit and help support this fun neighborly event. You can even wear a costume if you’re feeling ambitious!

🥕🫘 No starving artists here! 🍎🥦

Mark your calendars and stop by for some great art in a variety of mediums, palates, and price points. Kennett Area Community Service (food cupboard and social services) is hosting the fourth annual Kennett Arts Festival. You’ll find plenty of live music, food, beer, and wine, too. Something for everyone!

I’ll be there Saturday afternoon volunteering for KACS. Stop by and say hi if you can make it. The event benefits KACS, so your purchases (🎁 early holiday shopping, anyone??!) help ensure all of our neighbors have plenty of food on their tables. 🧺

The festival runs Saturday, September 20, from 10 am – 6 pm and Sunday, September 21, from 12 – 4 pm at 600 South Broad Street in Kennett. Check out the Kennett Arts Festival site for more details on live performances, artists, food vendors, and more.

And the raffle basket goes to…

Thanks to support from our local community, the Rachel Kohl Library raised over $5,000 from our annual fundraising dinner. We haven’t reached a final tally, so it’s likely to be even more than that! But we couldn’t have done it without our amazing patrons. I know many of you are reading this! Thank you for your support. 💰

Triple threat: scone edition

Remember when I shared about Mama Made Magic? Owner Tiffany has a new fall menu out that includes a fancy flight of scones: 🍊 orange and cranberry, pecan with molasses glaze, and 🎃 pumpkin spice. I told you we’re falling hard for pumpkin season!

Let Tiffany do the baking if you’re having friends over to hang out or simply want something sweet for your own kitchen. Get more details on Facebook or Instagram, where you can send her a direct message to order. She even does delivery in Chadds Ford! ✨

A toddler nature camp and fall storytime!

Our local libraries are really bringing it for parents of young children!

Every Tuesday, the Rachel Kohl Library hosts a storytime for younger children at Turner’s Mill Park at 10:30 am (September 2 – October 28). You can park behind the township building (10 Ring Road) and enjoy storytime under the pavilion, or let the littles play at the park.

Additionally, hop on over to Kennett Library with your toddlers for four days of nature camp held at Anson B. Nixon Park. They’re hosting the events on four Wednesdays in October. Snag the details from their website, and grab your sweaters for some fall fun for the kids.

Are you sure that’s trash?

Are you sure that’s trash? Before you trash it, check out this resale event hosted by the Junior League of Wilmington at Concord Mall. They collect donations of new and gently used items in a variety of categories (clothes, books, home goods, toys, blankets, and so much more!) to raise money for their work.

This year, the sale takes place at Concord Mall on November 8. But they need your donations now to start preparing for the big event. Check out their site for more details and specific information about the types of items they do and do not accept.

Tossing things you no longer need in the trash bin might be marginally easier, but a little bit of effort to help them find a new home can make a big impact in the community. 💖
