A new hot spot to stay cool
+ 🍅 tomatoes and 🥒 cucs + ☀️ golden rays + 🚲 bikes + 🎤 mics + 👣 hikes

Have you been to The Annex at OsoSweet Bakery and Cafe yet? The new indoor space, adjacent to Oso’s main location, features around 5-7 tables with a dozen or so chairs and lots of natural light. It’s a gorgeous spot to grab a bite with your girlfriends, a new neighbor, or a small community group. Stop over to check it out (and grab a snack or a cup of coffee while you’re there). The lemon blueberry scone is my favorite. 🍋
Tomatoes and cucumbers and flowers, oh my!
Don’t forget about the Concord Farmers Market, every Sunday from 9 am to 12 pm at Concord Township Park. It’s a small market with plenty of options from produce to flowers to coffee and more! Mark your calendars to get out, support our neighbor farmers and makers, and say hello to someone new.
☀️ Here comes the sun
We have a lot of open space in and around Chadds Ford. Imagine how that space could serve a dual purpose as a solar field and… farmland, a parking lot, a pickleball court, an outdoor seating area, a wildflower garden, an open field, and more.
Longwood Gardens already has a solar field next to Route 1. Here’s another version of what that might look like (but there are so many ways this could serve our community).
💔 Shout out to public broadcasting for this story. May our politicians one day remember how valuable the work of public media is to our past, present, and future.

Energy prices are rising (you know, because you’ve seen your PECO bill lately). 📈 Solar energy diversifies our sources, increases energy independence, and locks in prices for the energy it produces (solar has significant upfront costs but minimal variable costs because rays from the sun are free!).
For a community like ours that often loses power after storms, solar power with a battery increases reliability. It offers power right after the storm, before power lines are repaired.
💵 Here’s the most essential part: According to asset management firm Lazard, in their June 2025 report on the cost of energy, their top finding states that “utility-scale solar and onshore wind remain the most cost-effective forms of new-build energy generation on an unsubsidized basis (i.e., without tax subsidies).” This includes storage, so it’s not just “only when the sun shines.” Solar energy makes financial sense, even without tax incentives.
Something to think about…
It is worth noting that residential rooftop solar is not as cost-effective as utility-scale solar. But the point remains that solar deserves a second look even without tax incentives. It might be a more fiscally responsible investment than you think.

Be a groupie for a local band
