Got fast fingers for the library’s Delco Gives challenges?
Have you heard of Delco Gives? You may have seen the yard signs around town promoting the annual giving event. If it’s new to you (welcome to the party 🥳), Delco Gives aims to connect generous community members with the fantastic non-profits right here in our own backyard!
This year, the Rachel Kohl Community Library is participating in Delco Gives. As a member of the Board of Trustees and your trusted Chadds Ford liaison, it’s my duty and pleasure to let you know we’d love your support. 😉
Delco Gives isn’t about the largest donations. It’s really about highlighting how every little bit helps, and how small donations from many supporters add up to something really meaningful. We’re hoping you can participate. A $5 or $10 donation is plenty. Heck, that might be less than a gallon of gas by the time you read this. 🫣

Help us win 2 Delco Gives competitions!
Delco Gives takes place on May 6 -7 (though you can technically donate now). We’re happy to take donations any time during the event. But if you’re feeling like an overachiever (and I know there are a lot of us in the Chadds Ford area), we’ve got an extra special promo for you. Are you ready?
Delco Gives has a slew of competitions throughout the 2-day event. Who does not like competitions, right? 💪🏻 Ok, me. But I think I’m an outlier.
The library is hoping to win two of the many competitions, and we need your fast fingers to help us out. The competitions aim for unique donations, so gifts do not need to be large. $10 would be amazing!
Wednesday, May 6th, competition at 7 pm
The first to collect 20 unique donations on or after 7 pm wins an additional cash prize. Set a timer on your phone for 6:56 PM, Wednesday, May 6th, to remind you. When the alarm goes off, click the Delco Gives Rachel Kohl Community Library page and start to enter a donation to Rachel Kohl Community Library.
Please do not submit your donation until 7:00 PM. If your fast fingers are too fast, the donation won’t count towards our 7:00 pm twenty-donor tabulation. Will you be one of the 20 who help us win a large prize?
And if you miss the 6th…
Thursday, May 7th, competition at 5 pm
We’ve got another donation challenge at 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 7, to be the first to get 10 unique donations on or after that time. Set a timer on your phone for 4:56 PM Thursday, May 7th, as a reminder. Open the donation page and remember not to submit until 5:00 pm sharp.
If your fast fingers are too fast, a little slow, or you can’t donate during these windows, we won’t judge. We appreciate any donations, no matter the size. We’d love your help if it’s in your budget!
What does your donation help us afford?
So many things, and we are so grateful for your generosity! A $10-$25 donation can help us buy a new book. But we’re saving for some larger things too.
- The library is in dire need of a new roof. We’ve submitted a state grant request to help us pay for it, but we haven’t heard back yet. Wish us luck!
- New electrical panel + upgraded industrial fans for our community room (the fun stuff! 😜)
- Upgrades to the circulation desk
- Enhanced furniture for our small meeting spaces
- Community programs like yoga, pastel art classes, and Mah Jong lessons
- So much more!
Did you know that the library has used donor funding recently to purchase new reading chairs, create a dedicated teen space, and upgrade the book display features in the children’s library? It feels like there are small but meaningful enhancements each week, and it’s all thanks to each of you supporting the library.
Questions? Let us know! We’re happy to help.
P.S. Delco Gives not your thing, or you’re looking to help the library with a larger financial donation? Did you know you can make stock donations to the library, which might offer some nice tax benefits for you as well? More details here!
P.P.S. There are so many other amazing organizations in our community participating in Delco Gives. If you’re financially able, consider searching through the other non-profit entities participating to see where else your support might make a big difference to our neighbors! A few small donations from many add up to big benefits for the community.
