Alapocas Run State Park

📍Alapocas Run Trail Parking, 4360 Weldin Rd, Wilmington, DE (Google Maps)

👣 Paved, very well-maintained

💚 This out-and-back trail at Alapocas Run State Park is 5.7 miles long on wide, paved trails, making it perfect for any time of year. The parking lot is near the Can Do Playground (a playground designed for all abilities) and a new ninja warrior park.

We sent our kids off on their bikes/scooters and caught up with them about 30 minutes later. We finished the adventure with some time at the ninja warrior park, which feels like a playground for “big kids.” This is a spot worth coming back to.

There’s a fee to park in the lot if you don’t have a Delaware State Parks Annual Pass. But you can park nearby on the street if there are spaces available. Alternatively, if it’s in your budget, buy the pass to support the preservation of open spaces and beautiful places for the community to enjoy the outdoors!

Details to send in your recommendations and photos!

I’d love to get your recommendations and see photos of your hikes around the Brandywine Valley (or anything within about 60 minutes or so of Chadds Ford). If you’re willing to share your ideas and/or photos, reply to this newsletter to email them to me ([email protected]). If you send along photos, I’ll assume you’re ok with me sharing them in this newsletter unless you say otherwise. Thank you!!
