Encampment Tour at Valley Forge National Historical Park
📍Valley Forge Encampment Tour (at Valley Forge National Historical Park) – Visitor Center (Google Maps)
👣 It’s a solid 10-mile paved path and road network. It makes sense to walk through most of the stops, but drive to Washington’s Headquarters and the last three stops on the tour. You could also bike the whole thing, which would be pretty great! BYO bike or rent bikes from the park when in season.
💚 In the spirit of America 250, I selected the first Hike of the Week this year, one in mid-winter, in honor of our predecessors who took a mid-winter break in frosty Valley Forge from hiking through the Brandywine Valley. The Valley Forge Encampment Tour can be a hike, a bike ride, or a drive through the National Historic Park.
The National Park Service, which maintains the park and Visitor Center, offers a great app that includes information and commentary for a self-guided tour. You can get it on Google Play or the Apple App Store.

If you’re looking to hit up just a few of the ten stops on the tour, the Visitor Center, Muhlenberg’s Brigade, the National Arch, Washington’s Headquarters, and Washington Memorial Chapel were our favorite stops.
Have you hiked this part of Valley Forge Park?
