Smithbridge – Beaver Valley Trails
📍Beaver Valley Trails (part of First State National Historic Park), Chadds Ford, PA (Google Maps)
👣 A dirt and grassy path that meanders through wooded areas between Smithbridge Road and Beaver Valley Road. Several paths can be combined to walk for a couple of miles. There is no parking lot, so you’ll need to find street parking near a point where the trails connect to a roadway.
💚 I couldn’t find this set of paths on AllTrails, but they’re definitely maintained and well used. A year or two ago, the National Park Service fenced in some areas around steep slopes to prevent people from entering them, so it’s clear that the area is actively maintained.
The map below shows some of the paths (the thin green lines that meander between Smithbridge and Beaver Valley Roads). I circled in red the areas where the paths intersect with the roads. These paths don’t have formal parking lots, so you’ll need to find a local street or a nearby lot to park.
After a short walk down Beaver Valley Rd, you can cross onto more paths south of Beaver Valley Rd that are also part of First State National Historic Park.
