Pocopson Park path - wooded winter day

Pocopson Park

📍Pocopson Park Trails, West Chester, PA – (Google Maps)

🚗 There are two parking lots. The parking lot on Wawaset Rd was well-plowed. The parking lot on Locust Grove Rd left something to be desired. Even in my SUV, I opted not to try to enter. It might be better by now, but until the snow melts, you’re better off heading to the Wawaset Rd parking lot.

  • 477 Locust Grove Road, West Chester, 19382
  • 520 S. Wawaset Road, West Chester, 19382

👣 A gravel path that wanders through woods and open spaces. The park also has playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a pavilion.

💚 Look what I found! The seemingly only plowed walking path for miles around. If you’re dying to bust out and grab a walk in the crisp winter snow, lace up your warm boots and head over to Pocopson Park. I’m not sure who to thank, but someone in Pocopson Park and Recs deserves a pat on the back for clearing the path. Despite all of the snow, it feels like it’s sticking around forever.

As a girl who grew up in Minnesota, this lasting Philadelphia snow has made me appreciate the value of a good snowplow network. 🫠 Probably because snow doesn’t usually stick around for more than a few days around here, most plow work is pretty lazy. I get it. Typically, the snow is gone so quickly that a couple of days of slushy inconveniences is no matter. But not this year!

This sticky snow is sticking around. Will be living under the white blanket for at least another week or two if the weather forecast is accurate. With the right coat, hat, and gloves, you’ll be plenty warm to wander through Pocopson Park despite the snow banks.
