Hey Ladies! Get Strong[HER] at Align Fitness

The ’90s fashion trends might be all the rage right now, but the ’90s obsession with cardio is definitely out. Muscles are having their moment, especially for those of us of a certain age. 💪🏼

I don’t plan to do pull-ups at the airport (because that’s super weird 👀), but I’d love to knock out a few at the gym someday.

There’s mounting evidence (of the real science variety) that strength is essential as we age to maintain a high quality of life. This is particularly true (and especially challenging) for women. 🫶🏼 Thanks, biology.

Align Fitness, a local personal fitness studio, is bringing back its Strong[HER] program, an 8-week strength and lifestyle reset group training program for women.

Owner Joe Chaitkin started the StrongHER Project in 2017 to give women a structured, supportive, injury-free path back to feeling strong again — without overwhelm, without fad diets, and without punishing cardio. Ummm… getting fit without the cardio obsession? Where can I sign up?! (Right here, actually.)

Chaitkin said many female clients request women-only programs that include strength training and foster a sense of community. He’s been interested in bringing the program back since it took a COVID hiatus, but he didn’t have the right trainer… until now!

Maeve Barton, an Align Movement Coach, will lead the small group classes. Maeve has been an instructor at Align for a year and a half. She loves helping women feel empowered and conquer their fitness goals.

The Strong[HER] group meets weekly and includes up to five participants. Registration is open now. The program begins on January 10, 2026, and registration will remain open until January 7. If enough women are interested, Align will offer two groups to keep the group size at five or fewer participants.
