The magic money in tidying up

Want to help Chadds Ford Elementary get paid for your old garbage? Have I got a deal for you! Meet the bright green Fill the Bin Clothes Bin. It’s like Cookie Monster meets Oscar the Grouch – loud, bright, and gobbling up your garbage, but also a trashy green bin that collects textile trash.

Do you see it? Or is it just my wild imagination? Anywho…

If you have clothes, towels, sheets, or shoes ready to hit the road and not in good enough condition to pass along in the Buy Nothing group or sell at a consignment shop, this textile waste bin is your friend. Chadds Ford Elementary hosts this textile recycling bin in the parking lot. (It’s bright green and on the left when you drive into the parking lot; you can’t miss it.)

The textile recycling company that manages the bin sorts donations and sends items that can be reused or downcycled into products like rags and insulation to the right vendors. With each donation, Chadds Ford Elementary receives a small donation to support programs and grants for the cuties in our community who attend Chadds Ford Elementary.

Fall is the perfect time for a closet refresh. Old summer clothes that haven’t seen the sunny light of day since forever ago probably aren’t serving you anymore. Bringing back fall and winter clothes that have holes or stains? Send them to the bin.

Free up closet space and raise money for the school, for free! The bin is open 24/7/365, so stop by whenever it’s most convenient (but maybe avoid school drop-off and pick-up if you’re in a rush). 🫠 Put the textiles in a garbage bag or other sealed bag, then place them in the Clothes Bin. Win-win-win, and everyone loves that, right?

Have you used this Clothes Bin before? Was it easy peasy lemon squeezy?
