Fun playgrounds near Chadds Ford

Time for a little playground crawl? Have you visited all the playgrounds near Chadds Ford with your kiddos?

Between pocket parks and township destinations, families in and around Chadds Ford have more playground options than most people realize (or at least than I realized until I really started looking).

Here’s a look at the playgrounds around Chadds Ford

Turner's Mill Park; one of several playgrounds near Chadds Ford
Turner’s Mill Park

Turner’s Mill Park

10 Ring Road, Chadds Ford, PA 19317 (Google Maps)

Chadds Ford Township’s first playground and pavilion, Turner’s Mill Park, opened in November 2021. It’s tucked behind the Township building on Ring Road and was funded by a DCNR grant. It’s a fenced-in, tucked-away spot that parents of toddlers particularly love. Bonus: Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. from June through August, the Township hosts storytime in the pavilion next to the playground. Get park details here.

Beaver Valley Park

Beaver Valley Park

40 Beaver Valley Road, Chadds Ford, PA 19317 (Google Maps)

Beaver Valley Park opened in October 2025 in Concord Township, with partial funding from a DCNR grant. It includes a playground, pavilion, and a pedestrian crossing at Ruby Road and Beaver Valley Road. It’s designed especially for younger children, but all are welcome to climb and run among the structures. It’s the newest addition to the area’s playground lineup. Get the park details.

Kids’ Dream Playground at Smithbridge Road Park

Kids’ Dream Playground

687 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills, PA 19342 (Google Maps)

It has many informal names: the library playground, the Concord playground, the big one on Smithbridge Rd. Whatever you call it (and it’s probably not its actual name, because no one I know calls it that), Kids’ Dream Playground is a community-built structure with an impressive spread of equipment — slides, swings, climbing structures, and more — alongside volleyball courts, a gaga area, a walking path, and a story walk. Chadds Ford Elementary School Playground

Baltimore Pike (Route 1), Chadds Ford, PA 19317 (Google Maps)

A solid neighborhood playground area that many CFE families already know about, but I suspect, don’t often use. There are two playgrounds on the school campus. The larger playground looks like it’s behind a fence, though you can access it from the other side of the building and walk around back. The smaller playground is easily accessible from the parking lot.

The playgrounds are generally available outside of school hours. Weekends and summer are your best bet. The PTO has invested in updating the playground spaces over the last several years, so they’re pretty new and nice.

Jack King Park

Jack King Park

Ebright Road, Garnet Valley, PA 19060 (Google Maps)

A quiet, shaded neighborhood park that’s cute and perfect for little ones. Reviewers praise the mix of slides, swings, baby swings, and climbing structures, plus a short wooded trail with bat houses installed by a local Boy Scout troop. Good for younger kids, calm crowds, and easy parking. Get park details here.

Thornbury Park

Glen Mills and Thornton Roads, Glen Mills, PA 19342 (Google Maps)

Thornbury pulls off the rare combination of size and charm. There’s a large playground with a sand pit, basketball courts, tennis courts, a baseball field, a gazebo, and a paved walking track lined with historic interpretive boards. Multiple reviewers call it huge and consistently clean. Plenty of shade, too. Get park details here.

Chester Heights Community Park

9 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills, PA 19342 (Google Maps)

A smaller park with newer equipment that skews toward climbing and active play more than your average neighborhood setup. It’s clean, rarely crowded, and has an adjacent soccer field. No restrooms on-site, so pack accordingly if you’re bringing littles.

This one is worth the 20-minute drive. The 27,000-square-foot Can-Do Playground at Alapocas Run State Park is the first Boundless Playgroundâ„¢ in Delaware, designed to be accessible to every child regardless of physical, mental, and sensory abilities. It features an accessible surface, infant and full-support swings, a toddler area, sensory stations, and sand play, with a Storybook Trail and restrooms nearby.

Right next door, the NinjaFit Playground features obstacles like parkour hurdles, a spider wall, quad steps, a cargo net, a firefighter pole, and various monkey bars. Designed by Ninja Warrior athletes and coaches and geared for ages 13+, it’s free and open to younger kids too. The park is open 8 a.m. to sunset; note that there are parking fees.
