Welcome to the Chadds Ford Walking Club!

Want to get some fresh air, move your feet, and meet some neighbors? Check out the Chadds Ford Walking Club!

In partnership with the Chadds Ford Township Residents Association, we host a weekly walking group to foster community connections and create a sense of community. Anyone is welcome (even if you don’t live in Chadds Ford), and it’s totally free. We hope it’s a fun and healthy way to get to know our neighbors and explore some of the beautiful areas around our township.

Follow the Chadds Ford Township Resident Association Facebook page for reminders about upcoming walks! We also post reminders in community Facebook groups, such as Chadds Ford Neighbors and Chadds Ford Moms, and have a Chadds Ford Walking Club Signal group for reminders and last-minute changes. Details below about how to sign up for the Signal group!

We hope you can make it. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to leave a comment below.

Could you be a Walking Club ambassador?

We don’t want anyone to show up alone to a walking club event. Ambassadors commit to attending specific walking club events to ensure no one shows up without a neighbor to meet and move. Ambassadors enable us to schedule walks at a broader range of times (daytime, weeknights, weekends, etc.).

We will help select times and locations (with your input), share reminders on social media, and more. You just need to show up as scheduled in your walking shoes!

If you’re interested, please let me know in the comments or email [email protected] (with “walking club ambassador” in the subject line). Thanks!

What to know before attending a Walking Club meet-up

We want everyone to enjoy themselves. After a few months of walking club, here are some tips to help everyone have the best experience.

  • Come dressed for the weather and the trail surface type (We know you know, but we have to say it, right?)
  • It’s ok to walk in small groups. People walk at different paces, and it’s also really hard to have good conversations with large groups while walking. Do whatever feels most comfortable for the group, but this is a permission slip to separate into smaller groups if people want to walk at different speeds. Don’t leave anyone solo (unless that’s what they want). But know it’s ok to split up based on preferred walking paces.
  • We love it when you bring friends. Not required at all, but always welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a member to attend?

Nope! Anyone is welcome to show up wherever we’ll be walking.

Does it cost anything to participate?

Nope! Show up and get to know your neighbors while we move our bodies together. That’s the whole she-bang.

What fitness and mobility levels are required?

We strive to make the walks as accessible as possible. Typically, multiple small groups walk at different paces. We include information about surface type and elevation (where applicable) to help everyone decide what’s best for them.

Many of our walks are loops, allowing attendees to walk one or multiple loops, depending on their ability, desire, and time allotment. Other walks are “out and back,” and attendees can turn around whenever it’s comfortable for them.

What if there’s bad weather?

Some of us don’t mind walking in cold weather, drizzle, or a little heat, but there will definitely be times when we need to cancel. If we cancel, we will update this page (noting the cancellation above where the time is scheduled). We will also send an email to the CF Walking Group email list and drop a message in the CF Walking Group Signal Chat. See below to sign up for the email list and/or the Signal group.

Can I bring friends?

Heck yeah! The more the merrier!
